Description:
South Dakota Public Broadcasting is a statewide, joint radio and television network, that is also South Dakota's NPR and PBS affiliates. We seek an energetic, organized, and goal-focused professional to operate and monitor television and radio transmitting equipment. Incumbents will complete this by reading meters, observing transmitter components and observing equipment for possible problems. This role also assists in minor maintenance of broadcast equipment and switching of video and audio sources.
General Requirements:
Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • broadcast operations;
  • Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations;
  • IP networking;
  • electronics terminology.

Ability to:
  • navigate MS Windows folders and files;
  • use MS Office products;
  • follow broadcast station program schedules;
  • take meter readings;
  • work independently.

Other Information:
Position is 24 hours per week. Schedule requires some evenings and overnight shifts in a climate controlled room.
Please note this is a temporary, non-benefited position, exempt from civil service.
