Job Description Summary

Under limited direction, uses extensive knowledge of Treasury, Treasury Risk, or Financial Risk practices to provide director-level leadership across the three Treasury Risk stripes, Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk, and Capital Oversight. Leads significant initiatives, interprets business and strategy to provide independent, well-reasoned challenge and recommendations to senior management. The role requires strong judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to interpret complex financial and risk information. The Director establishes and fosters relationships across Treasury, Finance, Risk Management, and control functions, and presents risk perspectives, emerging issues, and recommendations to committees and senior leadership.

Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides leadership and subject matter expertise for Treasury Risk Management, with responsibility spanning one or more of Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk, and Capital Risk Leads large or complex initiatives from problem definition through analysis, stakeholder alignment, recommendation, and execution. Provides effective review and challenge of treasury risk identification, measurement, monitoring, limits, governance, and escalation practices, as applicable to the role and line of defense. Interprets risk, financial, and management information; identifies trends, linkages, and emerging concerns; and develops clear, practical conclusions and recommendations. Establishes and fosters productive relationships with Treasury, Finance, business leaders, peer risk teams, Internal Audit, Legal/Compliance, and other control partners. Communicates complex treasury risk topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences and presents risk assessments, recommendations, and emerging issues to governance committees and senior leadership. Influences positive change through sound analysis, constructive challenge, strong partnership, and demonstrated subject matter expertise. Contributes to the continued development of Treasury Risk Management frameworks, policies, standards, risk appetite measures, limits, monitoring, and reporting, as applicable. Monitors relevant regulatory developments and industry practices and assesses their implications for the firm’s treasury risk management program. Builds effective working relationships with regulators and internal or external assurance partners, as appropriate. Provides coaching, knowledge sharing, and leadership to colleagues; Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

In-depth knowledge of banking and treasury risk management practices, with substantive experience in at least one of the following risk stripes: Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk, or Capital Oversight. Understanding of first- and second-line risk management roles and responsibilities and the ability to operate effectively across organizational boundaries. Critical thinking and strong analytical judgment, including the ability to interpret data, assess implications, identify trends, challenge assumptions, and synthesize information into actionable conclusions. This role does not require a quantitative modeling background. Ability to lead initiatives, create structure around complex or ambiguous issues, coordinate stakeholders, and drive work to timely completion. Demonstrated ability to establish, foster, and sustain effective relationships with senior leaders, business partners, and control functions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting complex or sensitive topics to committees and senior leadership. Ability to maintain a broad enterprise perspective while attending to important details and risk drivers. Curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to share expertise while learning from colleagues with complementary strengths.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Risk Management, or a related discipline, and ten (10) to twelve (12) years of relevant experience required; or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources. Prior first- or second-line experience in Interest Rate Risk, Liquidity Risk, or Capital Risk is required. First-line Treasury experience is strongly preferred. Regulatory or regulatory-facing experience in treasury, capital, liquidity, or interest rate risk is valued. Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and presenting to governance committees and/or senior leadership is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

Professional certifications relevant to treasury, finance, risk management, accounting, or audit are preferred but not required.

Education

Bachelor’s: Accounting, Bachelor’s: Business Administration, Bachelor’s: Economics, Bachelor’s: Finance.

Work Experience

General Experience – 10 to 15 years, Manager Experience - 6 to 10 years.
