Job description

We're a Nashville family (Daniel and Marianna) with two kids: Evelyn (8) and William (5). Both of us work demanding jobs from home, and we're looking for someone reliable who can take ownership of the afternoon routine 3-4 days a week so the back end of our workday isn't a scramble. Core daily responsibilities: School pickup (or camp pickup in summer) and safe transport home, your car or ours, mileage reimbursed at IRS rate Snack, homework support, and unstructured play / outdoor time with the kids Light dinner prep. We'll usually leave a recipe or plan; we just need things chopped, started, or finished so we can sit down to dinner at 5:30-6 All household laundry (adult and kids). Kids' laundry put away in their rooms; adult laundry folded and left on our bed Light tidying of common spaces: putting away toys, wiping counters, loading the dishwasher with the day's dishes One day a week (Kumon run): Evelyn currently goes to Kumon in Brentwood once a week after school, and William will be joining her soon. Pickup starts around 2:45 PM and the full round trip gets you back to our house by about 4:30 PM. It's a real commitment because of traffic, and it's currently handled by Marianna's mom, who would love a break. On Kumon days we'd extend the shift to roughly 2:45-5:45 PM (about 3 hours) with mileage reimbursement for the Brentwood leg. Prioritized task list (outside the everyday stuff): We'll always leave a prioritized list of additional tasks for any time left over after the core responsibilities. These vary day to day and may include: Running errands or processing returns Cleaning a bathroom Helping with home organization projects Picking up an item from the store Items are always optional based on time. If you don't get to something, no worries; we just want a shared sense of what would be most helpful that day. What we're not asking for: Deep cleaning (we have help for that) Sole-charge overnight care The kids: Evelyn is fun, social, and creative. She loves crafting and art, plays soccer and basketball, and is learning the violin. William is energetic and also creative, a true builder who lives for Legos, Hot Wheels, and any imaginative play he can dream up. He's also learning the violin alongside Evelyn. Both kids are easy and well-behaved with someone they're comfortable with. Any allergies or medical notes will be shared in detail with the person we hire. What we're looking for in a fit: Someone who genuinely enjoys kids this age and is comfortable being the calm, in-charge adult after a long school day A safe, reliable driver with a clean record (the Brentwood Kumon run especially asks for someone confident in afternoon traffic) Reliable and communicative. We'd much rather know early if something comes up than be surprised Comfortable with light multitasking (kids playing while you fold a load of laundry or start dinner) Ideally someone who can commit to at least the next school year, and longer if it's a good fit. Continuity matters a lot to us. We've been rotating through Belmont students and want to settle into a real long-term relationship. Logistics: $24-26/hr to start (depending on experience), paid weekly via Poppins Payroll as a W-2 household employee. Mileage reimbursed. Open to a paid trial day before we both commit.

Qualifications

  • A love of working with children
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Passion for helping others
