Job description

Armed Security Officer

City Security Services is seeking professional and dependable Transit Security Officers to provide a visible security presence at transportation facilities. This position is responsible for protecting passengers, employees, visitors, facilities, and property while providing professional customer service in a public transportation environment.

The Transit Security Officer will perform fixed-post assignments and mobile patrols while responding appropriately to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, safety concerns, and other situations requiring immediate attention. Pay: $22/hr Location: Houston, TX 77030 Schedule: Full-Time, Overnight, 42 hours/week

Sunday: 6:00am-2:00pm

Monday: 6:00am-2:00pm

Tuesday: 6:00am-2:00pm

Wednesday: 6:00am-2:00pm

Thursday: 6:00am-2:00pm

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a professional security presence at assigned transit facilities.
  • Perform static security posts and mobile patrols.
  • Conduct routine patrols for security, fire, safety, and facility concerns.
  • Monitor passengers, employees, visitors, and other occupants for compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Respond to security alerts, criminal activity, medical emergencies, alarms, and other incidents.
  • Assist sick or injured individuals and provide basic first aid when appropriate.
  • Contact emergency medical services, law enforcement, supervisors, or other appropriate personnel as required.
  • Process and monitor visitors entering transit facilities.
  • Identify and report hazards, spills, equipment problems, and unsafe conditions.
  • Respond to fire, burglary, and other alarm activations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Take appropriate action regarding unauthorized access or violations of law or METRO rules when legally authorized.
  • Complete required reports and documentation.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Project Security Manager.
Required Qualifications
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Active Level 3 security certification with guard license in hand.
  • Active baton and OC certifications.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the previous three years.
  • Ability to pass the required Physical Readiness Test.
  • Ability to successfully complete a required 24-hour training course.
  • Basic computer and technical application skills.

Candidates must also satisfy at least one of the following experience/education pathways:

  • Bachelor's degree with demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to the position; or
  • Associate degree in criminal justice or security plus two years of security experience; or
  • Three years of combined military, law enforcement, and/or corrections experience; or
  • Five years of verifiable commercial security experience.
Physical Readiness

Candidates must be capable of completing:

  • One-mile walk/run within 18 minutes.
  • 45-foot simulated 150-pound body drag within the applicable required time.
