Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for protecting guests, employees, and casino assets as directed. Responds efficiently and effectively to requests from guests and employees regarding emergency or security assistance. Controls emergency situations and minimizes risk to employees and guests.
  2. Follows established security protocols to ensure property is safe. Receives technical direction and guidance from Security Lead.
  3. Performs duties in compliance with the Colorado Limited Gaming Act, Internal Control Minimum Procedures, internal policies and procedures, and Colorado Limited Gaming Regulations.
  4. Develops and maintains effective working relationships and good customer service skills with all guests and employees.
  5. Investigates incidents by asking questions, taking and analyzing statements, securing and reporting evidence, as directed and, makes an accurate record of all investigations.
  6. Incumbents may provide emergency First Aid and CPR, only once properly trained and certified, and only when needed to provide for the safety of casino guests and employees.
  7. Escorts transfer of money and assets throughout the casino when required. Assists by lifting or carrying money and assets for fills or cage transfers to designated locations.
  8. Patrols casino parking lots, as directed, including customer vehicles, shuttles, and charter buses to ensure the safety and security of guests and employees and for compliance with casino security policies and procedures.
  9. Monitors casino for potential problems occurring with excessive alcohol consumption and/or unacceptable behavior. Acts to remedy situations in a calm and professional manner.
  10. Wears and maintains all uniforms properly, including nametag and gaming license.
  11. Reports violations of casino security policies and procedures, as directed.
  12. Maintains alertness for performance of all responsibilities. Prior to taking action, exercises caution and evaluates circumstances for appropriate security or safety response. Keeps the supervisor informed of any concerns. 
  13. Verify customers are 21+ years of age and provide them with wristbands.
  14. Regular and reliable attendance is a fundamental requirement of this position. Employees are expected to be punctual and consistently present during their scheduled work hours to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the business.
  15. Performs other duties, including special projects, as needed and directed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated experience in security operations, preferably within a gaming environment. Demonstrated effective and diplomatic customer service and communication skills, including contact with employees, customers, and law enforcement. Experience handling difficult customer relations and incidents. Demonstrated experience in crowd control. Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on application of self-defense skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Graduation from a law enforcement or criminal justice course is preferred. One (1) or more years of recent and related experience in security, preferably in a gaming environment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid and current State of Colorado Gaming License. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.  CPR and First Aid Certification are preferred.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:  Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential duties involve performing physical exertion including frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching, pushing money carts weighing over 1500 pounds with assistance, and standing for an entire work shift with standard breaks. Essential duties require lifting up to 30 pounds, or up to 300 pounds with the assistance of other employees. Essential duties include working any day of the week and any shift of the day.
