Our highly engineered products serve as the backbone of modern-day commercial and military communications systems, assist in diagnosing medical conditions, empower scientific discoveries and space exploration, and much more.

We are seeking a Summer Intern to join our Extended Interaction Kylstron (EIK) Product team at CPI Canada and work on design, manufacturing, test and data analysis of millimetre wave vacuum amplifiers. These amplifiers operate in frequency range from 17 GHz to 300 GHz and serve various applications including space radars. This co-op offers hands-on experience across multiple engineering disciplines, including vacuum electronics, RF signal amplification and generation by electron beams, thermal-mechanical analyses and design providing exposure to products operating at the cutting edge of technology.

You will be part of a collaborative engineering team and contribute directly to the development, testing, and improvement of high-performance hardware.

Position Description:

During the term, you will contribute to a variety of engineering activities, including:

  • Support product assurance and test activities associated with product development and acceptance for delivery(e.g. environmental, thermal and RF testing)
  • Collection and analysis of test data to support engineering decisions and design improvements
  • Develop and refine FEA modelling (using SolidWorks, ANSYS) in support of feasibility studies and design validation
  • Contribute to equipment upgrades, lab improvements and process optimization initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, RF, thermal and manufacturing engineering
  • Other duties as required.

    Position Requirements:

    • Enrolled in a University Level Physics or Engineering program. preferable with a course in vacuum electronics and meets the criteria for acceptance into a graduate studies program.
    • Interest in RF systems, thermal/mechanical design, or hardware development
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
    • Organized and self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment
    • Effective written skills and strong verbal communicator
