Overnight Relocation Cna information

What is an overnight relocation CNA?

Overnight Relocation CNAs are Certified Nursing Assistants who work night shifts and specialize in helping patients relocate, either within a healthcare facility or between facilities, during overnight hours. Their duties often include assisting with patient transfers, ensuring safety during moves, providing basic care, and supporting patients' comfort during transitions. This role is essential in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities that operate around the clock and require patient movement after regular hours.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight relocation CNA?

To thrive as an Overnight Relocation CNA, you need a current CNA certification, solid knowledge of patient care procedures, and experience with safe patient transfers. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and mobility aids like transfer boards or lifts is typically required. Strong communication, patience, and the ability to stay calm and alert during night shifts are crucial soft skills. These abilities ensure safe, efficient care for relocating patients during overnight hours, maintaining both patient comfort and facility compliance.

What are some common challenges faced by overnight relocation CNAs, and how can they be managed?

Overnight Relocation CNAs often face the challenge of adjusting to irregular sleep patterns while providing high-quality care during nighttime hours. They may also encounter situations that require quickly relocating residents, which demands strong communication and collaboration with team members to ensure safety and comfort. Managing these challenges involves developing effective sleep routines, staying organized, and maintaining clear communication with supervisors and fellow staff. Additionally, practicing self-care and seeking support from colleagues can help manage the physical and emotional demands of the role.

Job description

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Evening & Overnight | Independent Living

Your Compassion Meets Excellence: CNA/Caregiver opportunities at an exceptional community! The Gatesworth, a U.S. News & World Report Best Independent Living Community for the past five years (2022-2026) and an STL Headliner Award Winner, offers a rewarding career for compassionate CNAs/Caregivers. Join our premier, resort-style community and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents while enjoying a supportive work environment.

Available Shifts:

  • Evening/Overnight Shift: Part-Time 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM and/or Part-Time 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM. Rotating weekends (Saturday and Sunday) required. Holidays required. No day shifts available.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, hands-on assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transportation, and transfers while ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Foster resident independence and dignity through personalized care and respectful interactions.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and take necessary actions to ensure resident well-being.
  • Assist in Personal Care office.
Qualifications:
  • Missouri CNA license preferred, but candidates with at least 5 years of caregiving experience in a senior living setting will also be considered.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program accepted.
  • At least 3 years of CNA experience in a senior living or healthcare setting required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

This role is based in an independent living community, where the caregiving responsibilities are lighter than in skilled nursing or assisted living settings. As a CNA, your focus will be on resident engagement, light assistance, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment—rather than performing intensive clinical or physical care tasks.

Because of the lower physical demands and non-clinical nature of this role, the compensation is structured accordingly. However, it offers a stable schedule, strong team support, and a meaningful opportunity to build experience in senior living while making a daily impact on residents' lives.

Why Join The Gatesworth?
