Job description

Title: Construction Project Engineer (entry to mid-level) Location: Lenexa, Kansas Pay: $80k-$120k base (DOE) + bonus

We have been in business for the last 50+ years and have a very strong track record in the following fields (in order of most pressing at the moment):

The Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting the successful execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers with the planning and execution of commercial construction projects.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain project progress.
  • Track procurement of materials and long-lead items to support project schedules.
  • Monitor project budgets, cost reports, and subcontractor commitments.
  • Assist with project scheduling and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate action items to the project team.
  • Support quality control and ensure work complies with contract documents and company standards.
  • Help facilitate project closeout, including punch lists, as-built drawings, warranties, and final documentation.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all company and OSHA safety requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting commercial construction projects.
  • Understanding of construction methods, project scheduling, contracts, and building systems.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar construction management software preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Commercial construction experience in healthcare, multifamily, mixed-use, municipal, or office projects.
  • Knowledge of design-build or construction management delivery methods.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
