Pre-Admissions Testing RN

Austin, Texas Medical Park Tower Surgery Ctr (11802) Category Nursing Job ID 92203-147 Status Part-Time

USPI Medical Park Tower Surgery Center is seeking a motivated Pre-Admissions Testing RN to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in General, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Urology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

The Pre Admissions Nurse is responsible for the teamwork and coordination of nursing care to include the collection and analysis of assessment data in determining nursing diagnosis, identification of expected outcomes and development of plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members as appropriate. The Pre Admissions Nurse identifies interventions to attain expected outcomes, implements the interventions identified in the plan of care, evaluates the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes, and documents the process. This care includes sensitivity to age specific and unique needs of the patient/family.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive and efficient care to patients in the pre-operative phase
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-op assessments, including patient history, medications, and allergies
  • Initiate IVs, administer medications, and ensure accurate pre-op documentation
  • Reinforce pre-operative instructions and provide emotional support to patients and families
  • Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow RNs to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, medication safety, and patient safety standards
  • Ensure all necessary pre-op documentation and consents are completed before surgery
  • Monitor and respond to any changes in patient condition prior to surgery

Required Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 2-year experience in a hospital setting; perioperative setting preferred
  • Currently hold an unrestricted licensed in Texas.
  • BLS required upon hire; ACLS and PALS preferred.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
  • Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
  • General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for the perioperative setting.
  • Professional communication required to be able to interact effectively with patients, their families and consulting medical professionals.
