SUMMARY: The Physical Security Engineer is responsible for implementing, configuring, testing, and commissioning physical security solutions for customers. This role ensures that access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related systems are installed, programmed, integrated, and operating according to approved project specifications. The Physical Security Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Solutions Engineers, Operations, and customers to deliver successful project outcomes while maintaining quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.  

HIERARCHY: The Physical Security Solutions Engineer reports directly to the Physical Security Solutions Supervisor who reports to the VP, Solutions Engineering

 

PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:   

  • Implement physical security solutions in accordance with approved project designs, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Configure, program, test, and commission Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection, and related security systems.
  • Perform system startup, functional testing, troubleshooting, and validation prior to customer acceptance.
  • Install and configure system hardware, software, servers, workstations, and network-connected security devices.
  • Integrate security platforms with supporting IT infrastructure and third-party systems as required.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system performance issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Solutions Engineers, installers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Review project documentation, drawings, and scope of work to understand implementation requirements.
  • Document system configurations, programming changes, testing results, and project closeout information.
  • Provide technical support during project execution and assist with post-installation service as needed.
  • Train end users on system operation and basic administration following project completion.
  • Maintain compliance with company standards, manufacturer best practices, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings, implementation planning, and customer meetings as required.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Serve as the technical resource during project implementation and support Operations with technical issue resolution.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience implementing one or more of the following technologies:
  • Access Control
  • Video Surveillance
  • Intrusion Detection
  • IT Infrastructure
  • Experience configuring and commissioning enterprise physical security systems.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, switches, VLANs, and IP-based devices.
  • Familiarity with a variety of physical security manufacturers and platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret project drawings, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated and effective in both field and remote work environments.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: English

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing).
  • Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: New Era Office

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Standard business hours:  Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. 

TRAVEL: Travel is required, but only occasionally, and is less than 10%.
