Job Title: Forklift Operator and Material Handler

Job Description

This role focuses on safely moving, loading, unloading, and storing materials in a warehouse or production facility using a sit-down counterbalance forklift and manual handling. You ensure products and supplies are delivered to the correct locations efficiently, support inventory management, perform basic quality checks, and accurately document material transactions. You also assist with general production, shipping, and housekeeping tasks to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a sit-down counterbalance forklift to move, load, unload, and store materials safely and efficiently.
  • Handle materials manually as needed, including lifting, moving, and organizing products and parts.
  • Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities and documentation, and ensure materials are properly recorded.
  • Tag, label, and stock parts in designated storage locations to support accurate inventory control.
  • Use RF scanners and related equipment to pick, pack, and ship orders according to production and delivery schedules.
  • Read and interpret production and delivery schedules to determine sorting, staging, and material handling priorities.
  • Support general labor and production activities, including assembly and general shop work, as required.
  • Provide labour support for installations and shop work from time to time, following instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Perform quality checks on materials and products to confirm they meet required standards before storage or shipment.
  • Assist with housekeeping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the facility.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as packing, picking, shipping, and production to meet operational targets.
  • Complete documentation and transaction records accurately for material movements and inventory updates.
  • Participate in a four-day orientation and training program, including classroom learning and an on-the-job evaluation, and successfully pass the evaluation.
  • Follow all safety procedures, equipment operating guidelines, and facility rules during every shift.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support overall warehouse and production operations.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating a sit-down counterbalance forklift in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Valid third-party forklift certification for sit-down counterbalance equipment.
  • Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, and storing products and parts.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively for basic production or material handling tasks.
  • Basic experience with packing, picking, and shipping processes.
  • Ability to use RF scanners or similar devices to manage inventory and order fulfillment.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for overnight shifts.
  • Ability to work overnight hours from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Work Environment

You work in a brand-new, very large, and clean facility that operates as a warehouse and production environment. The role is based on an overnight shift from 9:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m., Monday to Friday, with eight hours of paid work per shift. The schedule includes two paid 15-minute shuttle periods, one paid 15-minute rest break, and one unpaid 30-minute meal break, all built into the shift while maintaining standard paid work hours. You operate sit-down counterbalance forklifts, use RF scanners, and handle materials with hand tools in a well-organized shop. The facility features a nice lunch room for breaks and meals, and the environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and efficient workflow. Orientation starts with a four-day program, including three days in the classroom and a fourth day of on-the-job evaluation and training, which you must pass to continue in the role.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $25.50/hr.
