Magna Legal Services is seeking a motivated, results-driven Business Development Manager to lead business development efforts across the Boston market and surrounding territory. This is an individual contributor role focused on expanding Magna's presence within the legal community through new client acquisition, relationship development, and long-term revenue growth.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in sales, prospecting, relationship development, and new business generation. This individual should be confident and persistent in identifying new opportunities, building relationships, and developing a strong book of business. Experience selling professional services or working within the legal industry is preferred but not required.

The Business Development Manager will represent and sell Magna Legal Services' full suite of litigation support services, including:

  • Court Reporting
  • Record Retrieval
  • Jury Research & Consulting
  • Litigation Graphics
  • Trial Presentation
  • Language Services
  • Investigation Services
  • Service of Process

Magna provides comprehensive, hands-on training in consultative selling, the litigation lifecycle, and our full portfolio of services to position the successful candidate for long-term growth.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a territory sales strategy focused on generating new business and growing revenue across the Boston market and surrounding region.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through phone, email, referrals, networking, industry events, and in-person outreach.
  • Build relationships with attorneys, law firms, corporate legal departments, and other key decision-makers throughout the territory.
  • Consistently prospect for and develop new client relationships while building and maintaining an active sales pipeline.
  • Represent and sell Magna's full suite of litigation support services, including court reporting, record retrieval, jury research and consulting, litigation graphics, trial presentation, language services, investigation services, and service of process.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Magna's solutions and effectively communicate how our services support clients throughout the litigation lifecycle.
  • Partner with Magna's subject matter experts to conduct client meetings, presentations, and educational discussions regarding specialized litigation support services.
  • Collaborate with operations and service delivery teams to ensure an exceptional client experience from initial opportunity through execution.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce and cross-sell additional Magna services as client relationships develop.
  • Attend industry events, networking functions, bar association meetings, conferences, and client events to strengthen Magna's presence within the Boston legal community.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline updates, forecasting, and opportunity information within the CRM.
  • Stay informed on litigation trends, legal industry developments, and competitive activity to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Travel throughout the territory and overnight as needed for client meetings and industry events.
Desired Background

Required

  • Previous experience in business development, outside sales, prospecting, or a related client-facing sales role.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop new relationships, and generate new business.
  • Strong prospecting, consultative selling, relationship management, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, persistent, and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
  • Strong professionalism, integrity, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage a geographic sales territory, maintain an active pipeline, and consistently work toward revenue goals.
  • Willingness and ability to develop expertise in Magna's litigation support services and the litigation lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.

Preferred

  • Experience selling professional services into law firms, corporate legal departments, or other legal industry clients.
  • Experience selling litigation support or related legal services.
  • Existing relationships within the Boston legal community.
  • Familiarity with the litigation process and the needs of plaintiff and defense law firms.
  • Experience partnering with subject matter experts during complex sales engagements.
$60,000 - $70,000 a year
An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
