How much do overnight line construction jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 30, 2026, the average hourly pay for overnight line construction in the United States is $18.66, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.11 and $20.43 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the highest paid job in construction?

In construction, the highest paid roles are often project managers, construction executives, or specialized trades such as elevator installers and heavy equipment operators. These positions typically require extensive experience, certifications, and sometimes advanced degrees, and they often oversee large projects or complex operations. Salaries can vary based on location, company size, and project scope.

What is overnight line construction?

Overnight line construction refers to the building, maintenance, or repair of utility lines—such as electrical, telecommunications, or power lines—during nighttime hours. These projects are often scheduled overnight to minimize disruption to traffic and daily business operations. Workers in overnight line construction must follow strict safety protocols and may use specialized equipment designed for low-light conditions. The work can be physically demanding and requires training in both construction and safety procedures.

What is the difference between Overnight Line Construction vs Line Crew Member?

AspectOvernight Line ConstructionLine Crew Member
CertificationsRequired: CDL, OSHA safety trainingRequired: OSHA safety training, possibly CDL
Work EnvironmentOutdoor, construction sites, often overnight shiftsOutdoor, utility lines, often daytime or flexible shifts
Job ResponsibilitiesInstalling, repairing, and maintaining power lines during overnight hoursAssisting with line installation, maintenance, and repairs
Industry UsageElectric utility companies, construction firmsElectric utility companies, contractors

Overnight Line Construction involves specialized skills for installing and maintaining power lines during overnight shifts, often requiring specific certifications like CDL and OSHA safety training. Line Crew Members support these operations, assisting with installation and repairs, typically working during daytime hours. Both roles are essential in utility infrastructure projects but differ mainly in shift timing and responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Overnight Line Construction Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Overnight Line Construction Worker, you need a strong understanding of electrical systems, physical stamina, and a high school diploma or relevant technical training. Familiarity with tools such as bucket trucks, voltage testers, and personal protective equipment, along with OSHA or utility safety certifications, is typically required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work safely under pressure are essential soft skills. These abilities ensure efficient, safe, and reliable construction and maintenance of power lines, especially during demanding overnight shifts.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Overnight line construction jobs typically do not pay $2000 a day; they usually offer hourly wages that, when calculated over a standard workweek, amount to lower daily earnings. High-paying construction roles, such as specialized project managers or union skilled trades, can reach high daily rates, but these are often contingent on experience, certifications, and project scope. Most jobs paying $2000 daily are in executive, consulting, or specialized professional fields rather than standard construction roles.

What are some common challenges faced by overnight line construction workers and how can they be managed?

Overnight line construction workers often encounter challenges such as working in low-light conditions, managing fatigue from night shifts, and adhering to strict safety protocols. To manage these challenges, teams use specialized lighting equipment, follow rotating shift schedules to reduce fatigue, and conduct thorough safety briefings before each shift. Effective teamwork and clear communication are also crucial, as crews must coordinate closely to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, even during off-hours.

What jobs make $10,000 a month without a degree?

Overnight line construction jobs typically do not pay $10,000 a month without specialized skills or experience. High-paying roles that can reach this level often involve skilled trades, sales, or entrepreneurship, but they usually require experience, certifications, or a strong network rather than formal degrees. Most jobs paying this much are in industries like technology, finance, or business ownership, which may not be directly related to line construction.

Is overnight construction a thing?

Overnight construction is common in jobs like overnight line construction, where work is scheduled during nighttime hours to minimize disruption to daily operations. Workers often need specialized training, safety certifications, and the ability to work during irregular hours. This schedule allows projects to progress efficiently while reducing impact on public or customer activity.
