Job description

Sales Engineer
Centennial, CO $90,000 $115,000
Since 1970, Rasmussen Mechanical Services has been a family-owned mechanical contractor working across the Midwest and Rocky Mountains. We've grown to over 200 people across seven locations, but we've kept the small-shop feeling that's made people stay with us for 20, 30, even 37 years.
We're hiring a Sales Engineer for our Centennial, Colorado location. This is a real hybrid role part trusted advisor for the customer, part project leader who sees the work through to a clean handoff. If you like both sides of the work the conversations and the craftsmanship this is your seat.
The Work
You'll own customer relationships and projects from the first walkthrough to the final signoff. Real mix of hunting new business and farming existing accounts, real mix of sales and execution. A typical week might include:
  • Walking customer facilities to understand mechanical challenges and scope the right solution
  • Building estimates and proposals including ROI calculations that help customers say yes
  • Coordinating field crews, materials, and schedules to keep projects moving
  • Managing budgets, change orders, and close-out so jobs finish clean and profitable
  • Developing planned service agreements and add-on opportunities from existing accounts
  • Partnering with other RMS divisions to bring customers full-solution offerings
  • Following up after the work is done because that's how repeat business gets built

Most of your work will be across the Denver metro and Front Range. Some travel comes with the territory, with a company vehicle or vehicle allowance provided.
Why This Role Is Different
  • Family-owned since 1970. The Rasmussens are still actively involved. Leadership is accessible, decisions get made quickly, and we play the long game with our people.
  • Real ownership. This is your territory, your accounts, your projects. We hire people we trust and give them the room to perform.
  • A full toolbox behind you. With ten specialized departments HVAC, boilers, mechanical construction, controls, reliability, and more you'll bring customers complete solutions instead of pointing them somewhere else.
  • Backed by an experienced bench. Field technicians, service coordinators, estimators, project managers, and division leaders who make you look good in front of customers.
  • Career runway. Multiple locations, multiple divisions, and a pattern of promotion from within. Strong performers shape their own path here.
  • Colorado, done right. Centennial puts you in the heart of the south Denver metro with mountains at your back and steady work in front of you.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years in mechanical services, HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, construction, or a related technical field
  • A track record of either selling technical solutions, managing projects, or ideally both
  • Strong technical fluency. You can talk shop with a technician and present ROI to a CFO in the same afternoon
  • Organized, self-directed, and accountable you don't need someone checking in on you
  • Comfortable with CRM systems, estimating tools, and the standard Microsoft Office suite
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience we care more about what you've done than where you went
  • Valid driver's license; willing to travel with occasional overnight stays
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Nice to have: Existing relationships in the Front Range commercial/industrial mechanical market. Experience with planned service agreement sales. Industry certifications (mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration).
Compensation & Benefits
  • $90,000 $115,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Full benefits package health, dental, vision, life insurance
  • 401(k) and retirement plan
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Company vehicle
  • Employee referral program
  • Ongoing training and professional development support
Working Conditions
Mix of office, customer sites, and active project locations. Ability to lift 2530 lbs occasionally, walk job sites in mechanical rooms and active plant facilities, and sit at a workstation for extended periods. Standard PPE is required and provided where applicable.
