About the Role

SouthStar Capital is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Development Associate to support the strategic growth initiatives of our client acquisition team. This role plays a critical part in supporting sales, onboarding, and underwriting functions across SouthStarโ€™s suite of commercial finance products, including factoring and asset-based lending.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, proactive, and interested in developing a strong foundation in the commercial finance industry. This position offers meaningful exposure to client evaluation, financial analysis, and business development activities, with the opportunity to grow into expanded responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Business Development team in nationwide new business efforts.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to help develop and execute strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Analyze inbound and outbound leads, review client financials, and assist in qualifying potential opportunities.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for inbound, web-generated leads, ensuring a prompt and professional first interaction.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of SouthStar Capitalโ€™s factoring and asset-based lending products.
  • Build targeted prospecting lists through strategic research and execute outbound calling efforts.
  • Utilize business information providers to research and identify potential opportunities and intermediaries.
  • Research and compile lists of potential Private Equity and Investment Banking referral sources.
  • Support referral source relationships through meeting coordination, CRM updates, and ongoing communication.
  • Prepare deal structures and assist the sales team in the development of initial proposals.
  • Build and maintain income yield models to support pricing and deal evaluation.
  • Attend networking events, client meetings, and industry conferences as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within SouthStarโ€™s CRM system.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
