Job description

An overnight pharmacist is needed to support a hospital pharmacy team in a full-time 3-month contract assignment. The schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off with 10-hour shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM. This is primarily on site in Cottage Grove, MN, with remote order verification duties for three additional hospitals in Wisconsin. Local candidates are preferred; however, travel pharmacists will be considered with travel stipends offered for qualified individuals.
Key Responsibilities: • Serve as the overnight pharmacist for the primary hospital site
• Provide after-hours order verification for additional hospitals remotely
• Process overnight prescriptions for ambulatory care and hospice patients
• Respond to clinical emergencies including Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, and Code Stroke activations
• Support care for a Level II nursery with neonates as early as 34 weeks gestation
• Perform order verification and provide drug information consults across multiple sites
• Ensure sterile IV compounding; independently prepare medications overnight in the absence of pharmacy technicians
• Manage cart fills, Pyxis refills, and inventory
• Conduct pharmacokinetic dosing, monitoring, and anticoagulation management
Qualifications and Desired Experience: • Active Minnesota Pharmacist license required
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system required
• Preference for experience with Epic Willow Ambulatory (WAMB) prescription processing
• Familiarity with Pyxis ES and BD Pyxis Logistics preferred
• Recent hospital or health-system pharmacy experience strongly preferred
This role offers an excellent opportunity for pharmacists who seek autonomous overnight practice with multi-site clinical support and acute care responsibilities in a collaborative environment.
