Job description

We are looking to hire a full-time Survey Field Technician to join our team. In this role, you'll work alongside Project Surveyors, field crews, Project Engineers, and Project Managers on a variety of public and private sector projects. This is a great starting point for someone eager to learn on the job, gain hands-on experience, and grow their career with a well-respected, collaborative, and dynamic team of professionals.

What You'll Do
  • Perform physically demanding work including packing heavy survey equipment, pounding hubs, and clearing brush.
  • Receive hands-on training in the use of survey instruments, automated data collection tools, GPS equipment, calculators, and other specialized gear.
  • Operate Trimble Robotic Total Stations, GN22 Receivers, and TSC5 Data collectors.
  • Support data collection efforts using unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
  • Follow all safety protocols, including AKS standards as well as state, federal, and site-specific regulations.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain.
  • Occasionally travel out of town/overnight when needed.
Who You Are
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness to start work at 6:00 a.m. and work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Must have valid OR or WA driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Motivated, eager to learn, and open to hands-on training.
  • Strong focus on safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly.
  • Ability to pass a urinalysis drug screening.
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, forest engineering, geomatics, or a related field.
  • Previous land surveying experience is a plus; backgrounds in forestry, wildland firefighting, or agricultural work are also valued.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, with the ability to apply it in practical, real-world settings.
