Job description

Company: NorthEast Sportsfield-Rec
Location: Greater Boston / Eastern Massachusetts

NorthEast Sportsfield-Rec designs and builds high-quality athletic fields, running tracks, playgrounds, and park spaces across New England. We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Playground Construction Foreman / Installer to lead crews in the field and take pride in delivering safe, well-built public spaces for schools, towns, and communities.

This is a full-time, year-round role with strong earning potential, steady work (including winter snow operations), and real opportunities for growth for the right person.
What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll take the lead on-site—guiding your crew, keeping projects on track, and making sure every installation meets safety and quality standards.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and organizing daily and weekly work plans for your crew
  • Installing commercial playground equipment and related site features based on manufacturer specs and project drawings
  • Operating equipment such as mini excavators, skid steers, and other machinery as needed
  • Ensuring all work meets safety standards, specifications, and quality expectations
  • Providing hands-on guidance and support to your crew in the field
  • Keeping track of crew hours and completing daily job reports
  • Coordinating with general contractors, superintendents, and project managers on site logistics, deliveries, and scheduling
  • Running weekly safety meetings and maintaining a strong safety culture
  • Attending job meetings when required
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with solid field experience who’s ready to step into a leadership role and take ownership of their work.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 5 years of playground installation or closely related construction experience
  • Experience with systems like LSI, GameTime, Kompan, or similar is a strong plus
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, layouts, and grading plans
  • Comfortable using mobile job management tools
  • Strong communication skills when working with clients, contractors, and crews
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight for 5+ days when needed

Nice to have (or willingness to obtain):

  • Hydraulic license (within 60 days of hire)
  • CDL Class A or B
  • DOT Medical Card
  • CSPI and/or NPCAI certification
What We Offer

We take care of our team and invest in people who want to grow with us.

  • Competitive hourly pay: $30–$40/hr, depending on experience
  • Prevailing wage opportunities: $68–$72/hr on eligible projects
  • Year-round work, including winter snow operations
  • Health insurance
  • Retirement plan
  • Paid time off
  • Performance-based bonuses
  • Training support and help with certifications/licenses
  • Annual performance and merit reviews
  • Real opportunities for advancement within the company
Schedule

This is a full-time, year-round position.

  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Saturdays as needed during busy seasons
  • Winter hours may vary depending on snow operations and weather conditions
