How much do overnight entry level k9 handler jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 8, 2026, the average hourly pay for overnight entry level k9 handler in the United States is $17.97, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.87 and $18.75 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the difference between Overnight Entry Level K9 Handler vs Security Guard?

AspectOvernight Entry Level K9 HandlerSecurity Guard
Required CertificationsBasic K9 handling certification, security licenseSecurity license, sometimes specialized training
Work EnvironmentNight shifts, outdoor/indoor patrols, handling working dogsNight shifts, surveillance, access control
Employer & Industry UsageSecurity firms, law enforcement support, private securitySecurity companies, corporate, retail, event security

While both roles involve overnight work and security responsibilities, the Overnight Entry Level K9 Handler specifically requires training in handling working dogs and often involves direct interaction with animals. Security Guards focus on surveillance and access control without necessarily handling animals. The K9 Handler role emphasizes animal training and care, whereas Security Guards primarily focus on monitoring and protecting property.

How to become a dog handler with no experience?

To become an overnight entry-level K9 handler with no experience, you should gain basic knowledge of dog behavior and handling through volunteering or training programs, and obtain relevant certifications such as a canine handling or obedience course. Employers often require a clean background check and physical fitness, and on-the-job training is typically provided. Building experience with dogs and understanding security or law enforcement environments can improve your chances of entry into the field.

What's the highest K9 handler pay?

The highest pay for an overnight entry-level K9 handler varies by location and agency, but experienced handlers can earn between $40,000 and $60,000 annually. Factors such as certifications, specialized training, and years of service can increase earning potential, especially in law enforcement or security roles with overtime and shift differentials.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

An Overnight Entry Level K9 Handler typically does not earn $4,000 weekly, as this role usually offers lower pay. High-paying jobs that can reach or exceed $4,000 per week without a degree include specialized trades like commercial truck driving, certain sales positions, or skilled labor such as construction or HVAC work, often requiring certifications or on-the-job training. These roles often involve physically demanding work, irregular hours, or specialized skills.

How hard is it to become an Overnight Entry Level K9 Handler?

Becoming an entry-level K9 handler typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of law enforcement or security training, and certification in K9 handling. Candidates often need to pass background checks, physical fitness tests, and gain experience working with dogs, which can take several months to a year depending on the training program and agency requirements.

The primary mission is simple:

Protect the property, keep unauthorized people off the site, and help ensure nothing happens that could damage or destroy the project.

This is not a stationary gate guard position.

Vehicle Requirements

Applicants must own:

  • Full-size crossover capable of safely transporting a working K9 crate
