TAG Refrigeration is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician to support advanced service work in the Phoenix, AZ area.

Role Summary

The Senior Technician is responsible for high-level diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of rooftop HVAC equipment, including (but not limited to) packaged AC systems up to 30 tons, exhaust fans, and VRF/mini-split systems.

This role also serves as:

  • A technical resource for field technicians
  • A liaison between customers and the service team
  • A field extension of the management team


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full-service diagnostics, repair, and maintenance across a wide range of HVAC systems and industries
  • Conduct advanced controls diagnostics on BAS controllers (including MicroThermo, Emerson, etc.)
  • Complete thorough preventative maintenance with support from the maintenance team
  • Provide technical support across the service department and client base


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Journeyman-level HVAC experience with strong troubleshooting capabilities
  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience preferred, with a focus on rooftop packaged units and kitchen exhaust systems
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • RTUs
    • DOAS systems
    • Mini-splits
    • VRF/VRV systems
    • VFDs
    • Exhaust fans
  • Advanced troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, submittals, and specifications
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with customers, management, and field teams
  • Ability to prioritize work and operate independently
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Flexibility to travel, work overtime, and occasional overnight work as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on HVAC service experience across multiple system types
  • EPA Type II Certification


Schedule Flexibility

Our Phoenix HVAC division offers flexible scheduling options to eliminate traditional on-call rotations:

  • 4 weekday 8-hour shifts + 1 weekend 8-hour shift
  • 3 weekday 10-hour shifts + 1 weekend 10-hour shift
  • Monday–Friday schedule (no on-call) available for the right candidate
