Job description

What is Kalshi?
Kalshi has defined a new category: prediction markets. Kalshi allows people to trade on the outcome of any events and turn any question about the future into a financial asset. Kalshi fought for years and legalized prediction markets in the US for the first time in history, is currently the fastest growing financial market in America, and has thousands of markets across politics, economics, financials, weather, tech, AI, culture and more.
We believe prediction markets have the potential to be the largest financial market because they turn anything into a financial position.
  • Our vision: well... build the largest financial market on the planet.
  • Our mission: bring more truth to the world through the power of markets.

Our culture is simple: we hire really talented people, work really hard, and enjoy the climb. We are looking for ambitious and exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets.
Role Roadmap
Kalshi operates markets around the clock, and our margin and risk operations need to match. We're looking for a senior Margin Risk professional to own overnight operations, serving as the primary risk monitor during non-standard hours when the rest of the team is offline. You'll be responsible for real-time margin surveillance, escalation decisions, and keeping the platform's risk posture sound through the overnight session.
This role sits at the intersection of risk management and operational execution. You'll work closely with our clearing, compliance, and technology teams.
What You'll Do
  • Monitor margin positions, exposure, and collateral levels across Kalshi's markets in real time during overnight hours
  • Identify and escalate margin deficiencies, unusual position concentrations, and risk limit breaches in accordance with established thresholds and procedures
  • Execute margin calls and manage the end-to-end margin call lifecycle including issuance, tracking, and resolution
  • Perform end-of-day and overnight reconciliations across clearing accounts, ensuring accuracy of margin calculations and collateral postings
  • Coordinate with clearing members, counterparties, and custodians to resolve margin disputes and settlement issues
  • Monitor market activity and liquidity conditions overnight, flagging developments that could affect risk exposure
  • Maintain and update risk operations runbooks, escalation procedures, and shift handoff documentation
  • Support the build-out of automated monitoring tools and contribute to process improvements that reduce manual risk in overnight operations
What You Bring
  • 4-10+ years of experience in margin operations, clearing operations, or market risk at an exchange, clearinghouse, FCM, or broker-dealer
  • Deep familiarity with margin methodologies, initial margin, variation margin, intraday margin calls, and collateral management
  • Experience operating in a real-time risk monitoring capacity, including making independent escalation decisions under pressure
  • Strong understanding of cleared derivatives, futures, or event contracts and their associated risk mechanics
  • Comfort working overnight or non-standard hours as the primary risk operations coverage
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar tools for data analysis and monitoring
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to stay sharp and decisive during high-pressure overnight situations
  • Strong written communication skills - your shift handoffs and escalation memos need to be clear and actionable

NYC Pay Transparency Disclosure:
Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000 annually plus equity and benefits.
This range reflects current market data for this role. Kalshi has minimal hierarchy and broad variance in experience levels within each title; if your compensation expectations exceed this range, we encourage you to reach out - we're always happy to discuss.
Our Culture
Meritocracy is at our core, and we value people who take ownership and figure (usually hard) things out. We dream big. We love our craft deeply and are proud of what we put out in the world. We are committed to our vision of building something big... but also useful: a product that brings more truth through the power of markets.
Kalshians are Kalshi's most important asset: we pick Kalshians carefully, so we trust them fully on day 1.
Commitment to Equal Opportunity
Kalshi is committed to creating a culture of inclusion and belonging, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We believe it is our collective responsibility to uphold these values and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to join us in our mission. All qualified applicants will be treated with respect and receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, uniform service, veteran status, age, or any other protected characteristic per federal, state, or local law. If you are passionate about what you do and want to use your talents to support our mission and values, we'd love to hear from you.
