Job description

Job Summary:

Under minimal direction, serves as the technical quality authority for projects within the Engineered Systems Division. Evaluates GD&T requirements, tolerance stack-up, and statistical capability risk from pre-sale feasibility through final runoff to ensure manufacturability and customer acceptance. Responsible for validating dimensional performance and statistical capability readiness prior to customer signoff.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate GD&T requirements, tolerance stack-up, and statistical capability risk to ensure manufacturability and customer acceptance
  • Identify features with elevated risk of capability failure and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Lead statistical capability studies, calculating Cp/Cpk and Pp/Ppk (as required) to validate dimensional performance and customer acceptance readiness
  • Lead customer quality discussions, clearly communicating statistical results, measurement methodology, and capability conclusions
  • Facilitate part correlation efforts to ensure internal inspection results align with customer measurement methodology and acceptance criteria
  • Establish inspection strategy aligned with print requirements and customer specifications
  • Establish Cp/Cpk and Pp/Ppk targets based on customer and internal expectations
  • Program and optimize CMM routines using Zeiss Calypso
  • Create ballooned drawings, inspection reports, and gage plans using DISCUS software
  • Drive corrective action when statistical performance does not meet required thresholds
  • Participate in pre-sale technical reviews to evaluate dimensional feasibility and tolerance risk
  • Support first article inspection documentation and customer submissions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to inspection strategy and process stability

Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment with responsibility for dimensional validation and capability analysis
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Zeiss Calypso CMM programming
  • Experience creating ballooned drawings and structured gage plans using DISCUS
  • Strong understanding of GD&T including datum structure interpretation and geometric tolerance evaluation
  • Working knowledge of tolerance stack-up principles
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical process control including calculation and interpretation of Cp/Cpk and Pp/Ppk. Ability to evaluate process stability, data validity, and statistical assumptions to ensure capability conclusions are technically sound
  • Proven ability to clearly and confidently communicate technical and statistical results in customer-facing settings
  • Comfortable leading technical discussions during runoff and process prove-out activities
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining processes preferred
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability
