What is an overnight Days Inn hotel staff member responsible for?

Overnight Days Inn Hotel staff are responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of guests during the nighttime hours. Their duties typically include managing late check-ins and check-outs, handling guest inquiries or emergencies, maintaining security, and performing basic administrative tasks. They may also prepare reports for management, assist with housekeeping needs, and ensure that all areas of the hotel are clean and secure overnight. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently.

What are the most common challenges faced by overnight staff at a Days Inn hotel, and how can they be managed effectively?

Overnight staff at a Days Inn hotel often encounter challenges such as handling late-night guest requests, managing security concerns, and addressing unexpected maintenance issues with limited resources. Effective communication with other departments and a solid understanding of emergency procedures are essential. Being proactive in anticipating guest needs and staying organized during quieter hours can help ensure smooth operations throughout the shift. Support from management and clear protocols make it easier for overnight staff to handle these unique challenges confidently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight hotel front desk clerk at Days Inn, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Overnight Hotel Front Desk Clerk at Days Inn, you typically need customer service experience, basic math skills, and at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hotel property management systems (PMS) and reservation software, as well as proficiency in handling credit card terminals, is common. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are standout soft skills for this role. About the Job
We're looking for a friendly, reliable Front Desk Agent to be the face of our hotel. You'll welcome guests, run the front desk, help drive sales, and keep the property running smoothly. Your day-to-day tasks include the following, and may include other duties as needed.
What You'll Do
Guest Service

  • Greet every guest warmly and help with whatever they need.
  • Check in with guests often to make sure they're happy with their stay.
  • Handle guest problems calmly and do your best to make things right.
Front Desk

  • Run the front desk — check-ins, check-outs, renewals, reservations, property tours, and sales events.
  • Answer guest calls and requests quickly.
  • Follow all hotel policies correctly, every time.
  • Write down your work in the right log, the way policy requires.

Safety

  • Keep the building and everyone in it safe. Call emergency services or police when needed.
  • Know how to respond the right way in an emergency.
  • Inspect rooms and public areas daily to meet company and brand standards.
Extra Support

  • Help with the hotel's laundry — sort, wash, dry, and fold sheets and towels, and keep the laundry room clean.
  • Learn the jobs of other non-manager staff and cover those duties when needed.

Shift Rules
  • You must stay on-site for your whole shift until someone comes to relieve you.
What You Need
  • Good communication with guests and staff.
  • Able to stay calm and handle conflict and stress.
  • Comfortable with sales and talking money with guests.
  • Able to read and follow written steps and procedures.
  • Quick to adapt when the day changes and solve problems on the spot.
Please Note
This list covers your main duties but is not limited to what's above. You may be asked to help with other tasks as needed.
