We’re seeking a highly organized, analytical professional to manage full-cycle import operations from A–Z in our growing Detroit HQ office. This role goes beyond entries—you’ll own the entire shipment lifecycle, coordinating with overseas agents, carriers, and customers to ensure seamless import clearance and delivery via air and ocean freight.
You’ll be a key contributor in helping build and grow a small but expanding team, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys responsibility, autonomy, and future leadership potential.
Top Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit all import documentation in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)regulations
  • Handle full-service import operations from routing and quoting through clearance and final delivery
  • Manage classification, ISF, OGA, RLF, and customs entry processing for general commodities
  • Ensure compliance with FMC, C-TPAT, and company procedures
  • Coordinate freight movements with overseas agents, steamship lines, airlines, truckers, co-loaders, and customers
  • Prepare quotations for overseas agents and customers
  • Maintain accurate files, documentation, and shipment records
  • Communicate effectively with the remote corporate office and internal teams
  • Assist with training, cross-training, and supervising team members as the branch grows
  • Support special projects and branch initiatives as needed
  • Overtime may be required during peak periods. Some travel and training may be required.
What Sets You Apart
  • 2–3 years of strong experience in classification, OGA, RLF, customs entries, and ISF processing
  • Additional 2–3 years of experience in air or ocean freight forwarding, customs clearance, quoting, and invoicing
  • Strong customer service mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and comfortable working independently in a small branch office environment
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks
  • Strong math skills and solid knowledge of domestic and international geography
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel (training provided for O365 and SharePoint if needed)
  • Ability and interest in cross-training others and stepping into a leadership role over time
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential documents
