Job Description

Position: HVAC Controls Technician

Location: San Bruno, CA 94066

Duration: 9 months

Pay Rate: $17.12/hr on W2


Responsibilities:

  • Test, calibrate verify system and peripheral devices. Testing to be performed according to all applicable standards and codes (e.g. ULC536).
  • Verify system functional performance to ensure proper operations according to contract requirements and shop drawings/sequence of operations, etc.
  • Perform system backups, install appropriate updates and patches.
  • Complete documentation of all work done, including all readings, offsets, etc.
  • Update Customer drawings/documentation with any configuration or model changes.
  • Ensure all assigned Preventive Maintenance tasks are completed in the time allotted and the month scheduled.
  • Respond to and resolve Emergency Service Calls as required, in accordance with customer contract deliverables.
  • Diagnose and perform repairs in a time effective manner.
  • Participation in delivery of Small Service or Install jobs, including but limited to, engineering, drawings, programming, documentation, installation, management of sub-contractors, start-up, testing and customer acceptance.
  • Keep abreast of changes and new developments in product and preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Act as a mentor to junior technicians.
  • Availability for and performance of duties outside of normal working hours as required.
  • Promote, build and maintain good customer relations.
  • Keep supervisor informed of customer requirements, systems status, and actual, potential or perceived customer problems.
  • Supply information on adds or extras to appropriate client resource e.g. Site Primary tech, SSJ Salesrep, FSL, etc..
  • Demonstrate System and provide training to customers as required.
  • Ability to travel throughout the service area, with occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical College Diploma in the appropriate field or in lieu of degree 5 years industry experience
  • 5 years related experience including troubleshooting, programming and delivery of small jobs in the HVAC/Building Automation controls industry
  • 3 years experience of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record

Preferred skills:

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position with reasonable accommodation. May need to lift object over 25 pounds such as climbing ladder out of vehicle. NO REPETITIVE LIFTING..
  • Language requirements as may be required geographically.
  • Ability to acquire and demonstrate skills and product knowledge to meet the requirements of the role.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, Control systems, Mechanical system operation and building facilities. Installed Systems Product knowledge EBI, XL5000, CARE, ComfortPoint, PCs and general network knowledge.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and get things done.
  • Basic Project Management skills.
  • Basic Selling Skills.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills to deal with co-workers, customers and contractors.
  • Basic understanding of fundamentals of contract principles.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision, work is generally not reviewed in detail.
  • Guidance is available to review work as required.
  • Makes independent decisions. Difficult, complex or unusual matters or decisions are usually referred to more senior authority.
