Curated Events is seeking a Lead Lighting Technician, being responsible for the installation, operation, and oversight of lighting systems for live events. This role serves as the technical lead on-site, ensuring lighting designs are executed accurately, equipment is properly maintained, and crews operate efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the setup, installation, and breakdown of lighting equipment for events
  • Interpret and execute lighting plots, rigging plans, and technical drawings
  • Supervise lighting crew members during load-in, show execution, and load-out
  • Program and operate lighting consoles when required
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly during events and rehearsals
  • Ensure all lighting systems meet safety standards and company protocols
  • Coordinate with Lighting Designers, Production Managers, and other departments
  • Perform routine maintenance, testing, and repairs of lighting equipment
  • Manage on-site inventory and assist with warehouse organization and prep
  • Train and mentor junior technicians and stagehands
Required Skills & Abilities
  • 3-6+ years of experience in live event lighting or technical production
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of lighting systems, fixtures, and control consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Hog, ETC)
  • Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and technical schematics
  • Understanding of DMX signal flow, networking, and power distribution
  • Experience with rigging and safe equipment handling practices
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in corporate events, concerts, or touring productions
  • Familiarity with lighting visualization software
  • OSHA safety training or other relevant certifications
  • Working knowledge of audio, video, and staging integration
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts, truss structures)
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work long hours, including overnight shifts
  • On-site at event venues, warehouses, and outdoor locations
  • Fast-paced, physically active environment with strict deadlines
  • Frequent evening, weekend, and holiday work
  • Travel may be required depending on event schedule
