Job Title: CNC Machine Operator

Job Description

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, you will operate CNC machinery that bends, drills, broaches, and reams metal parts while ensuring parts meet established specifications and quality standards. You will set up and run fabrication equipment, adjust programs and tooling as needed, and monitor machine performance to maintain safe, efficient, and accurate production.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of fabrication machines, with a primary focus on CNC Press Brake and CNC Punch Press machines.
  • Run CNC machinery that automatically bends, drills, broaches, or reams metal parts according to established specifications.
  • Make adjustments to CNC programs and equipment settings to adhere to specifications or correct faulty programming and equipment performance.
  • Make informed decisions regarding part quality, tolerances, and operation sequence during production.
  • Monitor work in progress to ensure machines are operating correctly and are not malfunctioning.
  • Utilize planning and production software such as NC Express, NFOR, TruTops, and AutoPOL for reporting, scheduling, and investigating parts.
  • Work from engineering drawings and sketches to set up and run jobs accurately.
  • Set up tooling using pre-made 3D programs and ensure proper alignment and configuration before production.
  • Set up and adjust CNC programs to optimize performance and maintain part quality.
  • Inspect raw materials before production to verify they meet required specifications.
  • Perform general machine setup and machine operation tasks, including shear presses, punch presses, and press brake machines as needed.
  • Follow and maintain 5S practices to keep the work area organized, clean, and safe.
  • Support safe forklift operations if qualified, particularly with stand-up forklifts, to move materials and parts within the facility.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1+ years of experience operating CNC machines.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC operation, including CNC mills, CNC lathes, and CNC fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate Press Brake machines and Punch Press machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and sketches.
  • Understanding of CAD/CAM technologies as they relate to CNC programming and operation.
  • Strong math skills to support accurate measurements, tolerances, and setups.
  • Experience with machine setup and machine operation, including shear machines, press brakes, and punch presses.
  • Ability to monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating a Prima Power Press Brake or Safan Press Brake is preferred.
  • Experience operating a Prima Power Shear Genius Punch Machine or Trumpf Punch Machine is preferred.
  • Experience operating a stand-up forklift is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software tools such as NC Express, NFOR, TruTops, and AutoPOL for planning, reporting, and part investigation.
  • Experience with shear presses, shear machines, and press brake machines is beneficial.
  • Experience with lathe operation and general fabrication equipment is an asset.

Work Environment

You will work in a climate-controlled manufacturing and warehouse facility designed to support comfort and consistency throughout the year. The environment includes modern CNC fabrication equipment such as CNC Press Brake and CNC Punch Press machines, as well as shear machines, punch presses, and related machinery. Planning and production activities use technologies such as NC Express, NFOR, TruTops, and AutoPOL. Openings are available on both 1st and 2nd shifts, with standard schedules of 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for 1st shift and 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday for 2nd shift, each consisting of 10-hour shifts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hr.
