Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our nursing team. The Overnight Detox LPN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to clients undergoing medical detoxification in a residential setting. This role ensures patient safety, monitors withdrawal symptoms, administers medications as ordered, and responds to medical and behavioral needs during overnight hours.

The ideal candidate has experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and residential treatment environments, and demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and sound clinical judgment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform ongoing nursing assessments and monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms using appropriate scales (e.g., CIWA, COWS)
  • Administer medications as prescribed, including detox protocols and PRN medications
  • Monitor vital signs and document all findings accurately and timely
  • Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies and escalate care as needed
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the KIPU (EMR) system
  • Communicate patient status and changes to the incoming shift and interdisciplinary team
  • Ensure a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment overnight
  • Conduct safety rounds and patient checks per facility policy
  • Support admission processes as needed during overnight hours
  • Collaborate with providers and supervisors for any changes in condition or concerns

Qualifications:

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Florida (or applicable state)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred (detox, behavioral health, or acute care strongly preferred)
  • Experience with substance use disorders and withdrawal management is a plus
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision overnight
