Ballistics Technician I - 2nd Shift


Location:Newport VT
Shift: Monday - Thursday | 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM or Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm (optional)
Shift Differential: 7.5%

What You'll Do

  • Perform ballistic and non-ballistic testing on military protective equipment.
  • Conduct incoming and in-process quality inspections.
  • Prepare helmets and armor products for testing.
  • Evaluate test results and accurately document findings.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and verify calibration status.
  • Complete inspection reports and Non-Conforming Reports (NCRs) as required.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and testing specifications.
  • Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams to support manufacturing goals.
  • Recommend improvements to testing processes and product quality.


What We're Looking For

  • A technical college diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in ballistic testing, ammunition loading, or a manufacturing/laboratory environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems and inspection processes.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with analytical testing equipment, FaroArm, or PolyWorks software is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Work safely at varying heights using appropriate fall protection.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and overhead reaching.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, gloves, and heat-resistant gear.
