Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for an Internal Only: Principal Test Engineer - Regional Ops Support & Test Engr (26-129) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based at Schriever Space Force Base, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

NOTE: This position is only available to current and active C2BMC personnel

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both globally and regionally, to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

This position reports to the C2BMC Operations and Test Lead and is responsible for coordinating high-visibility projects that affect operations and test events across the entire Ballistic Missile Defense System. The Operations and Test Engineer manages system configuration for operations and all test events by developing system configuration documents (Runsheet) and establishing and disseminating baseline guidance for the daily Real-World Operations (RWO) of the global C2BMC enterprise. This position directly supports the execution of all BMDS flight and ground tests involving C2BMC by overseeing configuration management and mission management, directing execution, and supporting real-time data analysis. The Operations and Test Engineer serves as an alternate C2BMC Asset Manager, coordinating and scheduling flight, ground, systems, and operability tests, as well as all regular maintenance and upgrade activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for interacting with and coordinating with outside agencies on C2BMC matters and for attending briefings and conferences on behalf of C2BMC Operations

  • Requires an individual who can develop and publish technical Operating Instructions for C2BMC and coordinate and oversee the accuracy, scheduling, and release of all C2BMC Tasking Orders (CTO) across the enterprise

  • Requires an individual who will remain intimately involved with the capabilities and features of future C2BMC software spiral releases, provide input on system and process improvements, and be able to train and mentor crew personnel

  • Must be flexible regarding OCONUS travel in support of site standup, Ground/Flight tests, and other activities that are considered high visibility to C2BMC NT and its customers

  • Position is normally Mon-Fri: may require on-call, evening, and weekend support during system anomalies and/or tests

  • Performs other duties and assignments as required

Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree

  • Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, SecurityX, CCNA Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance and get indoctrinated into a higher than Secret program

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs

  • Experience in project management, planning, and resource management

  • Experience leading personnel in the operations and maintenance of large-scale computer and communications systems/networking environment

  • Effective communication; ability to brief program management and customer leadership on technical system and network issues, and overall system reports

  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience are essential for directing the assessment and development of Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and Operating Instructions (OIs) to ensure effective service administration, operation, and management under C2BMC operational control

  • Possess a solid background and experience in system and network administration, including Linux and Windows

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance and the ability to be read onto an SCI clearance at the time of application are highly preferred

  • Experience using Cisco and Juniper

  • Experience liaising with other DoD agencies and associated Ballistic Missile Defense Systems operations and organizations

  • Experience with Linux and /or Microsoft operating systems

  • Knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency and BMDS, along with the Integrated Scheduling Tool (IST)

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
