The arena is home to the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, WNBA's Seattle Storm, PWHL Seattle and the world's biggest performers of live music and events. The arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040. Climate Pledge Arena has one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any building its size, including being the world’s first Zero Carbon Certified arena. Position Summary:

The Commercial Kitchen Mechanic supports the successful operation of a high-volume arena hosting NHL, WNBA, PWHL, major entertainment, and other events. This role diagnoses, repairs, installs, and maintains commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, ranges, fryers, combis, refrigeration, prep equipment, dishwashers, hoods, and beverage systems. The position requires strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, including experience with 480V three-phase systems, and the ability to read schematics and technical manuals. The mechanic performs preventive maintenance, maintains service records, communicates professionally with clients, and works independently while supporting other Engineering teams. CO beverage system experience is highly preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the successful completion of 50 NHL games, 20 WNBA games, 13 PWHL, 80 major music/entertainment events, and 25 miscellaneous events each year.
  •  
  • Diagnose and repair commercial hot-side kitchen appliances such as ovens, ranges, fryers, combis, and broilers using schematics and technical manuals.
  • Diagnose and repair commercial cold side kitchen equipment such as prep tables, cold rails, merch coolers, etc.
  • Diagnose and Repair commercial prep equipment, slicers, mixers, proofers, herb gardens, hoods, dishwashers, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to prevent future breakdowns, ensuring optimal appliance performance.
  • Interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical schematics, and refrigeration systems to accurately identify issues.
  • Install new equipment or components following safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Communicate clearly with clients about repair needs, timelines, and maintenance tips to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain detailed service records, including parts used, repairs performed, and diagnostic findings.
  • Willing to aid other engineering departments if necessary.
  • Experienced with working with electricity as high as 480V 3 phase systems, as there are no fossil fuel equipment on site.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in appliance repair with a focus on commercial kitchen equipment or related field service roles.
  • Strong electrical component experience and related mechanical knowledge; familiarity with refrigeration and HVAC systems is a plus.
  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Customer service skills that foster positive relationships with clients while providing professional support.
  • Knowledge of assembly processes for commercial equipment and the ability to perform equipment repairs efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to diagnosing issues quickly and effectively.   • Co2 Beverage equipment experience is a huge plus. Especially working with bulk plant systems.
  • Able to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, CMMS systems, and proficient in excel.
  • Able to work both independently with minimum supervision and in a team atmosphere.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years HVAC/KITCHEN repair experience
  • Universal EPA Refrigerant is a plus
  • City of Seattle Refrigeration Operators license (or acquired within 6 months of hire)
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Experience with large-scale events in a stadium or concert setting of a similar size (18,000 seats) is highly desirable.

 Working Conditions:

  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
  • Frequent bending, ability to lift 50 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building

 

Compensation: 

  • In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected base pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00 hourly. Actual base pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. 
  • This role is classified as part-time, non-exempt.
