Position Summary:
The Veterans outreach worker will provide outreach in and is responsible for the recruitment of homeless veterans who are in need of employment and other supportive services. The Veterans outreach worker works closely with the Veterans Services Coordinator and Chief Operating Officer to accomplish the mission and service goals of the Aletheia House.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Actively recruit Veteran participants who are in need of housing and supportive services.
-Provide outreach and engagement services.
-Conduct regular visits to homeless shelters and soup kitchens in the Montgomery area, medical Center, etc., as well as conducting street outreach in the alleys, encampments, and abandoned houses where many homeless veterans live.
-Identify, recruit, and enroll at least 5-6 participants weekly into the program. Enrollment will come from street outreach, referral from other homeless service providers, and referrals from Veterans Affairs.
-Assist in the collection of follow-up data by locating individuals who have received services.
-Coordinate and communicate outreach tracking activities with other staff members and accurately documenting all activities
-Attend all professional development, staff meetings, and in-service trainings as required.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Jobs for Veterans Program Manager
Requirements
Qualifications:
-High School Diploma (former homeless Veteran preferred)
-Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
-Motor Vehicle Report required.
Travel:
-Travel required daily, weekly or monthly
-Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation
-Mileage reimbursement for personal use of vehicle is included
