The STEM Outreach Associate Specialist will assist the day-to-day operations and continued growth of the STEM Outreach Programs as a supporting member of the Science Education Programs department of the Society for Science (Society).This is a non-exempt position.ResponsibilitiesSupports the organization, planning, and execution of the STEM Outreach ProgramsProvides administrative support which includes assisting in administrative work, payments, and accounting processesProvides data support such as maintenance of existing datasets within a Dynamics database and processing new datasets from online applications and formsProvides customer service across programs by responding to email inquiries and communicating with program participantsSupports the community of educators through digital engagement via email and through social media communicationsSupports the analysis of program participant feedback and the development of related summaries and reportsCompletes other departmental projects and duties assignedSupports other departmental programs before and during the competition weeks, which requires at least three weeks of time away from home, including at least one week of travelCompetenciesStrong communications skills (written and verbal)Data organization, management, and analysis skillsDemonstrated ability to work with others as a team and to be a self-starterExcellent organizational and time management skills needed to track and accomplish multiple, unrelated tasksBackground or interest in STEM, education, or another related fieldAffinity for the mission and outreach goals of the Society for ScienceRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor's undergraduate degreeComputer and data proficiency including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Desired Education and ExperienceA degree in a STEM-related field or in educationRelational database knowledge and management (Dynamics, SQL, or other platforms)Interest or experience with supporting STEM educators and/or studentsExperience using application or data collection platforms such as RhythmQ, Form Assembly, Survey Monkey Apply, etc.To ApplyTo be considered for this position please upload a professional resume and cover letter. Our office is located near the Dupont Circle and Farragut North Metro stations. Society for Science is operating on a hybrid work schedule. This position is based in the DC metropolitan area.Position Type and Expected HoursThis is a full-time (37.5 hr/wk), non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal office hours of the Society. The normal business hours of the Society are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. EST, with core hours of 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. EST.SalaryThe salary range is $50,000-$55,000Additional Eligibility QualificationsSociety for Science has mandated the COVID-19 vaccine for employees, as applicable.
