What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Outplacement Consultant position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Outplacement Consultant, you need a background in career counseling or human resources, strong interviewing and resume-writing skills, and often a relevant bachelor's degree. Familiarity with career assessment tools, applicant tracking systems, and platforms like LinkedIn is typically required, and some roles may prefer certifications such as Certified Career Coach (CCC). Outstanding interpersonal skills, empathy, active listening, and the ability to motivate and guide individuals through transitions set top consultants apart. These skills are crucial for effectively supporting candidates in navigating job loss and securing new employment opportunities.

What are some common challenges faced by Outplacement Consultants, and how are they addressed?

Outplacement Consultants often work with individuals experiencing significant stress or uncertainty due to job loss, which can be emotionally challenging for both the consultant and the client. Navigating diverse personalities and career backgrounds requires adaptability, patience, and a strong understanding of various industries. To address these challenges, consultants use structured career coaching techniques, ongoing professional development, and collaborate closely with HR teams to provide tailored solutions. Many firms also offer peer support among consultants and leverage technology to streamline job search resources, helping to ensure each client receives effective, compassionate assistance.

What is the role of an outplacement consultant?

An outplacement consultant helps displaced employees transition to new jobs by providing career counseling, resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies. What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

An outplacement consultant typically does not earn $10,000 a month without a degree; high earnings in this field usually require extensive experience and specialized skills. Jobs that can pay $10,000 monthly without a degree include sales managers, real estate brokers, or certain entrepreneurial roles, often requiring strong networking, sales ability, or business acumen. Many high-paying roles rely on skills, certifications, or experience rather than formal education alone.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Outplacement consultants typically do not earn $2000 a day; such high daily rates are more common in specialized fields like executive coaching, management consulting, or high-level legal and financial advisory roles. These positions often require extensive experience, certifications, and a strong professional network. Most high-paying consulting or advisory roles involve project-based fees or retainers rather than daily rates, and earning $2000 daily usually reflects senior-level expertise or niche specialization.

About the Role

Career Partners International is hiring a Career Transition / Outplacement Services Sales Manager to drive new business growth in Houston, Dallas, and surrounding markets.

In this role, you will generate leads, develop relationships with HR leaders and business decision-makers, and close new client accounts for outplacement, career transition, recruiting, talent development, and temporary staffing solutions.

This is a high-impact B2B sales role for someone who understands how to build trust with HR leaders, uncover business needs, and move prospects through a consultative sales process. The number one driver for this position is increasing gross profit through new client revenue, repeat business, and long-term partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

As the Career Transition / Outplacement Services Sales Manager, you will:

  • Identify and prospect new business opportunities in HR, talent acquisition, organizational development, and related sectors to increase overall gross profit.
  • Set qualified appointments with prospective clients in assigned territories.
  • Drive gross profit growth by moving prospects through discovery, proposals, negotiations, and closing new accounts.
  • Conduct outbound outreach through email, phone calls, LinkedIn, networking, and events to build a qualified sales pipeline.
  • Present outplacement services, recruiting solutions, talent development services, and staffing solutions tailored to each client's needs.
  • Schedule and lead discovery calls, product demos, and proposal meetings.
  • Collaborate with marketing to execute lead generation campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, including lead status, call notes, activity history, and meeting outcomes.
  • Track and analyze weekly activity metrics while consistently meeting or exceeding performance targets.
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales goals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and people skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong networking contacts and business development capabilities.
  • A self-motivated, goal-oriented mindset with confidence in outbound prospecting.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, HR, marketing, or a related field preferred.

What We Offer

Career Partners International and Ascend Staffing offer:

  • Competitive base salary plus commission structure.
  • Hybrid working arrangements, as agreed upon.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • A mission-driven, supportive team culture.
  • Staffing industry sales training and mentorship.

First-Year Performance Expectations

In the first year, this role is expected to:

  • Generate $300K-$800K+ in new revenue by closing multiple net-new client accounts and contributing directly to gross profit growth.
  • Build and maintain a consistent 3-5x sales pipeline through disciplined outbound prospecting, discovery, and opportunity management.
  • Establish a strong HR network in Houston and Dallas, becoming a trusted partner for layoffs, restructuring, career transition, recruiting, talent development, and staffing solutions.
  • Demonstrate high activity and conversion discipline, including 50-100+ weekly outbound touches, steady client meetings, proposals, and deal progression.
  • Achieve full ramp by 4-6 months and consistent production by year-end, including repeat business and referral-driven opportunities.
