These competencies ensure safe, efficient recovery for patients after outpatient procedures and effective collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams.

What is an outpatient PACU RN?

An Outpatient PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) RN is a registered nurse who cares for patients recovering from anesthesia after outpatient surgical procedures. These nurses work in surgical centers or hospitals, collaborating with anesthesiologists and surgeons. Their primary focus is patient safety, comfort, and a smooth recovery process. Strong critical thinking, communication, and assessment skills are essential in this role.

What does an outpatient PACU RN do?

As an Outpatient PACU RN, your main responsibilities include closely monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, managing pain and potential complications, and ensuring patients meet discharge criteria safely and comfortably.
