Job description

Job Title: Outdoor Lighting Technician (Part-time w/ transition to Full-time)

Reports To: Owner

Status & Salary: Non-Exempt - Hourly

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

Supports Company operations by performing all outdoor lighting installation or service tasks at the client’s home/work site as determined in the scope of work. The work, which is primarily outdoors, includes going up ladders, trenching, burying or laying-out wire runs, as well as assembling, wiring, replacing, or connecting low-voltage lighting systems, fixtures and/or bulbs. These duties and necessary functions are to be performed safely, professionally and in a timely manner to meet our client’s expectations and provide excellent service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, including but not limited to:

1. Creates trenches/paths for wire runs and buries low voltage wiring in landscape areas and lawns.

2. Safely climbs and utilizes ladders to perform necessary installation and service tasks including mounts on gutters, soffits, trees, poles, fences or walls, as well as Holiday lighting and permanent roofline installations.

3. Assembles lights and mounts them in prescribed locations, mounts transformers and connects wire runs. 

4. Safely operates a variety of tools including hammer drills, power drills, saws, grinders and other tools as required.

5. Cleans up all areas affected by the installation and performs maintenance on all Company tools and equipment used daily on work sites.

6. Communicates with client upon arrival at work site, to briefly explain/confirm the scope of work to be performed and estimated length of time to complete tasks.

7. Anticipates task problems and informs client of any issues and corrective action to complete task.

8. Speaks with client to inform and educate about additional products and services available.

9. Prepares and correctly completes any work order documents or reports.

10. Ensures adequate inventory levels are maintained to service clients.

11. Operates company vehicle in a safe manner, maintains a clean and orderly vehicle. Notifies management of any vehicle accidents, malfunctions or damages.

12. Sustains a work environment that builds positive professional relationships, accepts accountability, demonstrates excellent client service. Consistently demonstrates a commitment to complete scope of work.

13. Accomplishes organization goals by following required best practices. Promptly informs owner of any team member injury, issues/disputes with client, damage to structure, or Company tools/equipment.

14. Updates job knowledge by participating in training, successfully passes internal COLT (Certified Outdoor Lighting Technician) training, follows all company polices, safety rules and procedures including all highway traffic laws.

15. Performs other duties that may be assigned.

· Available to work with a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· High School degree or equivalent

· Minimum of 1-year experience in a customer-service related industry

· Must have valid NJ driver’s license at employment, preferably with a clean driving record.

· Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening, as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Good general health, physical stamina, fitness and vitality. Must be able to perform outdoor work requiring physical exertion, heavy lifting, and to work continuously (whether standing, stooping, kneeling or crouching).
  • Frequently move the whole body to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling and handling of materials.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
