Job description

Purpose Statement:

Outdoor Education Facilitators create memorable learning experiences for 5th-8th grade students attending the outdoor education program at Alliance Redwoods. Facilitators lead hands on science classes, recreational activities, challenge courses, and team building classes.

Description of Duties Including but not limited to:
  • Lead outdoor science classes that align with program curriculum for students in 5th-8th grade
  • Facilitate recreational activities including hiking, games, and team building initiatives
  • Operate challenge course elements following established safety standards
  • Ensure participant safety by following camp policies, emergency procedures, and risk management practices
  • Run activities for camp guest groups (age range may vary) on weekends as needed
  • Assist in other areas of camp as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Hight school diploma or equivalent required, coursework in education or environmental science preferred
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (training provided if needed)
  • Communicate effectively with fellow staff, teachers, students, and guest groups
  • Experience working with youth preferred

Requirement:

  • Complete and pass required trainings
  • Work comfortably in a harness at heights of up 200ft
  • Lift and carry 50lbs or more on a regular basis
  • Work in varying weather conditions
  • Must be in harmony with Alliance Redwoods statement of faith
  • Must pass background check

Compensation: $18 per hour
