Job description

The Logistics Supervisor-Warehouse will be responsible for coordinating the operation of the packaging, material handling and warehouse functions of the flow and storage of materials and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption while focusing on continuous improvement to improve internal warehousing and operational standards.

  • Material Coordinators and Material Handlers

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing Material Coordinators and Material Handlers within the shipping and receiving departments across multiple locations.
  • Aligns closely with Logistics Shipping Supervisor to assure that division shipping plan is implemented.
  • Management and oversight of their team's Health and Safety performance and continuous focus on creating a safe and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide Material Handling Subject Matter Expertise to include but not limited to the safe operation of material handling equipment (Forklifts, electric pallet jacks) and overhead crane equipment.
  • Provide leadership in on-going cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.
  • Develop, implement and execute warehousing and packaging sourcing strategies, practices and procedures in alignment with business unit leaders.
  • Develop and implement negotiation strategies for warehouse support services; including, but not limited to, all types of warehousing support, crating/packaging, and material handling.
  • Develops and accountable for budget/standard cost for quarterly/annual operating and long-range planning.
  • Provide for the evaluation of supplier quotations utilizing appropriate negotiation and procurement analysis techniques and implementation of proper contracts with emphasis on quality, price and service.
  • Manages outbound loading schedule and oversees incoming and outgoing loading and receiving activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Coordinates with Engineering, Project Management and Manufacturing departments for advanced identification of shipments with special requirements for packaging and loading operations.
  • Manage all facets or material receivables and stockroom activities.
  • Ensure employees have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely inspected and maintained.
  • Create and sustain a safe work environment.
  • Delivers supervisory functions including, but not limited to, talent acquisition, performance management, and employee relations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of Warehouse Management and Shipping/Logistics Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of logistics and logistics contract negotiation experience, preferably in the electrical/power component industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven supervisory experience
  • Expertise in executing Receiving/Inventory Control through ERP Systems (Oracle preferred)

  • Experience with Oracle

Physical Requirements

  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  • Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting. Walking up to 300 feet frequently and standing continuously throughout the shift with short periods of sitting.
