How much do otr team driving jobs pay per week?

As of Jun 13, 2026, the average weekly pay for otr team driving in the United States is $1,573.46, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $1,326.92 and $1,740.38 per week, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is OTR team driving?

OTR team driving refers to 'Over-The-Road' trucking where two drivers work together to operate a commercial truck over long distances. In this arrangement, one driver operates the vehicle while the other rests, allowing the truck to cover more miles with minimal stops. OTR team drivers often transport freight across states or regions, helping companies meet tight delivery schedules. This setup can lead to higher earnings and faster deliveries, but also involves long periods away from home.

What are some common challenges OTR team drivers face while working together on long hauls?

OTR (Over-the-Road) team drivers often face challenges related to coordinating schedules, managing sleep cycles, and maintaining effective communication in the confined space of a truck cab. Adjusting to sharing living and working quarters with another person for extended periods requires flexibility and mutual respect. Additionally, team drivers must work together to handle unexpected delays, route changes, and ensure compliance with hours-of-service regulations. Developing strong teamwork and problem-solving skills is key to overcoming these challenges and ensuring a successful partnership on the road.

What company in Texas is paying truckers $14000 a week?

Otr team driving positions can offer high weekly earnings, with some companies paying experienced drivers up to $14,000 per week. These roles typically require long-haul routes, strong driving records, and adherence to safety regulations. Earnings vary based on experience, route, and company policies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OTR Team Driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as an OTR Team Driver, you need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a clean driving record, and knowledge of DOT regulations. Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation systems, and truck maintenance tools is essential. Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills help ensure smooth coordination with your driving partner and dispatch. These abilities are crucial for maintaining safety, meeting delivery deadlines, and optimizing efficiency on long-haul routes.

How much do OTR drivers typically earn?

Over-the-road (OTR) drivers typically earn between $45,000 and $75,000 annually, with experienced drivers or those with specialized skills potentially earning more. Compensation often includes base pay, mileage bonuses, and benefits, and requires a commercial driver's license (CDL) and adherence to safety regulations.

Is otr driving worth it?

OTR (Over-the-Road) team driving can be financially rewarding with higher earning potential due to longer routes and shared driving shifts. However, it involves extended time away from home, irregular schedules, and the need for commercial driver’s licenses (CDL), making it suitable for those comfortable with a demanding travel lifestyle. The job requires strong driving skills, adherence to safety regulations, and the ability to manage time effectively.
