General Job Description: This position is responsible for transporting scrap materials in tractor-trailer trucks between yards, mills, shredders, distributors, and foundries.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Operate tractor-trailer trucks to load materials and deliver to yards, mills, shredders, distributors, and foundries. Determine the condition of the vehicle by using pre-tip/post-trip inspections. Determine whether the cargo has been properly loaded, distributed, and secured. Determine if hazardous conditions (i.e. weather and/or road conditions adversely affect visibility or traction). Maintain accurate driver logbook to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Compensation: Flat rate per round-trip, plus $25/hr. during retention.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 - 9 hours per day (home daily).
Qualifications: 1) Must be at least 21 years of age. 2) Must be able to read and speak English. 3) Must have at least five years of experience safely operating a commercial motor vehicle. 4) Must have a current, valid CDL license (Class A required). 5) Must be physically qualified to operate a commercial vehicle.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: 1) Able to sit/drive for an extended period. 2) Use of both hands and feet for shifting gears, steering, and securing freight. 3) Ability to work in the heat, cold, and rain.
