Job Summary

The OSP Designer is responsible for preparing, revising, and maintaining Outside Plant (OSP) engineering drawings and construction documentation for fiber optic network projects. This role works closely with Engineers, Designers, Project Managers, and Field Teams to develop accurate aerial and underground fiber designs, permitting packages, and construction drawings that support project execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and modify OSP engineering drawings using AutoCAD, GIS, or related drafting software.
  • Develop aerial and underground fiber route maps and construction documents.
  • Create and maintain Engineering Work Documents (EWDs), fiber designs, splice diagrams, permit exhibits, and as-built drawings.
  • Review field survey data and incorporate findings into design packages.
  • Support permit package preparation and jurisdictional submittals.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, and Project Management teams to ensure design accuracy.
  • Maintain project documentation and drawing standards.
  • Assist with bill of materials development and documentation tracking.
  • Revise drawings based on customer comments, field conditions, and design changes.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet company and customer quality standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or other drafting software.
  • Understanding of telecommunications OSP construction methods and fiber optic infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of aerial and underground fiber network design.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
