What is a senior OSP engineer?

A Senior OSP (Outside Plant) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining telecommunications infrastructure, such as fiber optic and copper cable networks. What skills and qualifications are needed to be a senior OSP engineer?

To thrive as a Senior Osp Engineer, you need in-depth knowledge of outside plant (OSP) engineering principles, fiber optic and copper cable infrastructure, and relevant industry standards, typically supported by a degree in engineering or related field. Experience with CAD/GIS software, permitting systems, and certifications like BICSI or PMP are highly valued. Strong project management, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication with field crews and stakeholders are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective deployment of telecom infrastructure in complex environments.
