ELEMENTARY MULTI-AGE CLASSROOM TEACHING POSITION - Oshawa Learning Academy
Saint Peter Public Schools is excited to announce a full-time teaching position at Oshawa Learning Academy for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented and dedicated elementary education teacher to make a meaningful impact on fourth through sixth grade boys.
The students served at the Oshawa Learning Academy are residential clients at the Leo A. Hoffmann Center (LAHC). LAHC is a private, nonprofit corporation committed to assessing and providing high quality, outcome-based mental health services for children and adolescents. This is a fantastic opportunity for educators who are excited to work in a supportive, impactful environment where building relationships is key to student success. Under the direction of the school principal, the Elementary Education teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. This position involves significant collaboration with a special education teacher, as many students in this setting have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher is responsible for creating a structured learning environment that supports student growth toward grade-level standards and provides access to the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible through supplemental aids, accommodations, modifications, and other necessary supports.
This position will be filled on the basis of the experience, competency, and qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the district. Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
  2. Valid Minnesota teaching certificate OR the ability to obtain MN teaching certificate.
  3. Required endorsements for subject and level assigned - Elementary Education

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  1. Knowledge of subject(s) assigned

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to local, state, and federal guidelines.
  4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  5. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  6. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  7. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  8. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development
  1. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  2. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  3. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the principal.
  4. Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.

Classroom Management and Organization
  1. Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, student code of conduct, and IEP.
  2. Create classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  4. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

Instructional Strategies
  1. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.

Communication
  1. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  2. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  3. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development
  1. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  2. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  4. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  5. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  6. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

  1. Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
  2. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary Range:
$50,143 - $94,650 annually (based on education and experience per master agreement)
