Bakery Clerk

Part Time – Hourly

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely
  • Actively bake, wrap, package, and sell a variety of goods
  • To bake bread, rolls, buns, cake, pies, pastries and brownies
  • Maintain company standards for perishables and stay up to date on all active safety procedures
  • Transportation and stocking of goods within department
  • Ensuring Health and Safety Codes, checking for pricing and expiration, and maintaining an organizational standard area.
  • To check, record, and retain cooler/freezer temperatures and maintenance
  • To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors and managers, assisting within other departments as needed to service customers
  • Stay up to date and in congruence with Health and Safety standards, as well as holding a working knowledge of cleaning supplies and various chemicals and machines within the department
  • The capability to understand merchandising labels, warehouse order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper invoices and order forms
  • Ability to comprehend and provide complex verbal instructions and descriptions concerning store policy and procedures, and usage of equipment.

Qualifications

  • Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior Experience in related field or industry
  • Prior experience with oven, convection oven, mixer, fryer, bread slicer, stove, wrapper, scales, and cleaning materials

Specific tasks

  • Lift, twist, move and carry a maximum of 50 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store and cooler/freezer
  • Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas
  • Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations
  • Accurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers
  • Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely
  • Proper usage of store phone and intercom systems

Work Environment Note:

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from backdoor/compressors/cooler/freezer/preparation area.
