About this Opportunity:
We are seeking a pending-Junior or Senior level engineering student with coursework and/or experience in a fast-paced industrial and manufacturing environment supporting staff engineers and project managers for new product launches and supporting productivity improvements in a medical device and data-center industry contract manufacturing environment at our San Jose, California site. The primary responsibilities of this position are to apply engineering principles to solve technical problems, create appropriate documentation to support successful product launches, improve overall Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost performance. We're looking for someone with a positive attitude and attention to detail who wants to grow professionally with high internal expectations.
Responsibilities:
  • Modify and complete manufacturing processes for a lean manufacturing environment that incorporate machining, sheet metal fabrication, and electro-mechanical assembly with associated sub- and outside-processing (e.g., powder coat, metal finishing, welding, laser cutting, and electrical harness assembly).
  • Perform duties to complete project deliverables at the direction of the project manager and engineers working on the project.
  • Improve processes and key performance indicators using standardized problem-solving techniques and reporting out results to staff and management.
  • Introduce innovation to simplify and work and improve quality.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality requirements including Medical and Nonmedical Quality ISO Systems, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulations.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an engineering degree program
  • Two- to three years college-level course work engineering and general education
  • Problem-solving skills and a go-to toolbox of techniques
  • Conceptual or working level of Lean Manufacturing
  • Understanding of metals fabrication, preferably sheet metal fabrication, processing (weld and finishing), and inspection
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Good grasp on written, presentation, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to apply and interpret GD&T preferred
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISO and Medical device regulations preferred
  • New Product Introduction experience preferred
