What is an Orthofi job?

An OrthoFi job typically involves working for OrthoFi, a company that provides patient financing, insurance verification, and revenue cycle management solutions for orthodontic and dental practices. Employees in these roles may work in customer service, sales, account management, or technology development to help streamline payment processes and improve practice efficiency. Responsibilities can include assisting patients with financing options, managing insurance claims, and supporting healthcare providers with administrative tasks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Orthofi position, and why are they important?

Orthodontic Financial Coordinators (often referred to as OrthoFi coordinators) need a solid understanding of dental insurance, patient billing, and payment plan management, usually supported by experience in a dental or orthodontic office. Familiarity with dental practice management software such as OrthoFi, as well as proficiency in using typical office tools like spreadsheets and payment processing systems, is essential. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive financial conversations are critical soft skills for this position. Mastery of these areas ensures accurate billing, positive patient experiences, and efficient practice operations.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of an Orthodontic Financial Coordinator (OrthoFi coordinator)?

As an Orthodontic Financial Coordinator, your daily tasks include meeting with patients to review treatment costs, verifying dental insurance benefits, setting up payment plans, and managing billing and collections using systems like OrthoFi. You’ll collaborate closely with clinical staff to ensure patient accounts align with treatment plans and communicate regularly with insurance companies to resolve claims. The role also involves providing guidance to patients on financial options, handling sensitive information with discretion, and reconciling payments to ensure accurate records. This position is highly interactive and fast-paced, requiring excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure both the practice’s and patients’ financial needs are met efficiently.
