The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for people with disabilities, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol,, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

Position Summary:

The Orthodox Union is seeking a creative, strategic, and highly organized Social Media Coordinator to help elevate and expand the organization's digital presence across multiple platforms. This role is critical in driving awareness, engagement, and audience growth for the Orthodox Union and its diverse programs through compelling social media content, innovative storytelling, and influencer partnerships.

The Social Media Coordinator will play an essential role in the ongoing evolution of the OU's social media strategy by creating impactful content, managing day-to-day social media operations, monitoring trends and analytics, and implementing audience engagement initiatives across all channels. The ideal candidate is equal parts creative storyteller and analytical marketer, with a passion for social media, digital culture, branding, and mission-driven communications.Keycandidate attributes includea proactive, collaborative mindset, a strong eye for visual storytelling, and a willingness to contribute fresh, innovative ideas that help strengthen the OU's online presence and engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, schedule, publish, and manage engaging content across all social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), TikTok, WhatsApp, and emerging channels.
  • Develop compelling static graphics, short-form videos, reels, stories, and other multimedia content that aligns with the OU brand and messaging.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote organizational initiatives, events, campaigns, and programs through strategic social media support.
  • Identify opportunities for audience growth, engagement, and community building across platforms through creative and data-informed strategies.
  • Monitor social media trends, platform updates, influencer activity, and best practices to ensure content remains innovative, relevant, and effective.
  • Assist in developing and executing influencer and partnership strategies to amplify reach, strengthen brand visibility, and increase engagement.
  • Track, analyze, and report on social media performance metrics and KPIs to optimize strategy and content effectiveness.
  • Engage with online communities and audiences in a timely, professional, and brand-appropriate manner.
  • Support live event coverage and real-time social media storytelling when needed.
  • Maintain an organized content calendar and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required (BA/BS) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-5 years(salary commensurate with experience)ofproven experiencecreating,managing,and posting content across major social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), TikTok, and WhatsApp.
  • Strong understanding of current social media trends, audience behavior, and platform best practices.
  • Advanced experience creating static and video content using Canva, CapCutand other content creation and editing tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to think creatively while also using analytics and performance data to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also managing projects independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Understanding of social media analytics, reporting tools, engagement metrics, and KPIs.
  • Experience with influencer outreach, community management, and/or social media advertising is a plus.
  • Experience working within nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organizations is beneficial.

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is$50,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience.
