Product Engineer - Hydraulics
Lincolnton, NC | Full-Time | Up to 25% Travel
Orion Group has once again been retained by a global leader in filtration technology to recruit a Product Engineer for its growing Hydraulics Business Unit.
Our client is a well-established international manufacturer that designs and produces high-performance hydraulic filtration solutions for both OEM and aftermarket applications. The Hydraulics Business Unit partners with leading equipment manufacturers across construction, agriculture, mining, industrial, and mobile hydraulic markets, delivering engineered filtration products that maximise system performance, reliability, and equipment life.
As the business continues to invest in product innovation and technical excellence, they are looking to add a Product Engineer who will play a key role in supporting new product development, customer applications, continuous improvement, and technical product leadership.
The Opportunity
This is a highly visible engineering position supporting the full product lifecycle of hydraulic filtration products. You'll work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, and international colleagues to ensure products meet customer expectations for performance, quality, and cost.
You will also become the technical expert for hydraulic applications, supporting customers with product selection, cross-referencing, troubleshooting, and application engineering.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development, validation, and lifecycle management of hydraulic filtration products.
  • Act as the primary technical resource for hydraulic application questions and customer support.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, drawings, and technical records.
  • Coordinate product testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support prototype development and customer application evaluations.
  • Lead engineering change management and product improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to resolve technical and production issues.
  • Analyse product performance, customer feedback, and market trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams on new product development and strategic initiatives.
  • Support technical services personnel through guidance, prioritisation, and technical expertise.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience supporting product development within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and hydraulic circuit functionality.
  • Experience with product testing, validation, troubleshooting, and engineering change processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple departments in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Hydraulic filtration or hydraulic systems experience.
  • Experience supporting OEM products or industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience working with international engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle management and continuous improvement methodologies.
Why Apply? This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised engineering organisation that continues to invest heavily in product innovation and advanced hydraulic filtration technology.
You'll have the chance to work on technically challenging products, collaborate with international engineering teams, influence new product development, and play a key role in supporting some of the world's leading hydraulic equipment manufacturers.
