Job description

Grand Canyon University's department of Student Engagement is seeking a Clubs & Organizations Coordinator to facilitate student success through programs and services connecting students to campus and community organizations, activities, civic engagement and other students.

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day oversight of the club's program. Serves as general advisor to all clubs and as a primary advisor to clubs temporarily without a GCU advisor.

  • Assists in identifying and developing student leaders.

  • Provides leadership training to Club officers and representatives throughout the year.

  • Coordinates, plans and implements related student activities on- and off-campus.

  • Tracks club expenditures and maintains adherence to club budget.

  • Generates new ideas and ways to engage club students and to improve engagement with existing Clubs.

  • Conducts training for application software which tracks student engagement activity.

  • Assists in developing Club policies and procedures in accordance with the University and departmental mission and philosophy.

  • Acts as participating Board Member of GCU Clubs.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of Clubs Program, collects information and prepares reports.

  • Represents the University, department and Clubs to external groups.

  • Plans, facilitates and attends meetings related to Clubs, club students and student leadership.

  • Communicates regularly with Club advisors and representatives to share information and resources; ensures website is updated regularly and accurately and keeps manuals and other written materials up to date.

  • Maintains an adequate inventory of necessary supplies for student leaders to market events and activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (business, education, social science, etc.) from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Minimum of (1) to three (3) years' experience with clubs program coordination through colleges, community organizations, and/ or civic engagement preferred.

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience and education may be substituted upon supervisor's approval.

  • Must pass a pre-employment background investigation.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

  • Must have a clean driving record.

  • Capable of working independently with minimal direction or oversight.

  • Meticulous with a keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

  • Outstanding communications skills, including verbal and written with a good command of the English language.

  • Good relationship management skills and ability to work cohesively in a team environment requiring good social and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to foster a campus climate that is welcoming and supportive of the University's diverse student body.

  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects of varying sizes and detail requirement.

  • Ability to cope with changing priorities, rolling deadlines and a fast-paced environment effectively.

  • Flexibility with varying work schedules including evenings, holidays and weekends when necessary.

  • Computer proficiency including email, internet, MS Office Suite, social media platforms and other software applications.
