Description
Under the direction of the Director, Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), the Specialist, Faculty Development, supports faculty success through the design, delivery, and coordination of onboarding, training, and development initiatives, with a primary focus on Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) requirements, instructional effectiveness, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Work is cross-functional and diverse. Challenging, high-volume environment requires multitasking skills, the ability to meet deadlines and deal with difficult situations. Receives limited supervision within a broad framework of standard policies and procedures.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Faculty Onboarding and FQAS Coordination: Collaborates in the development, delivery, and evaluation of new faculty onboarding and supports faculty through their initial Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS) cycle by providing workshops, one-on-one guidance, and resources to ensure completion of required competencies. Tracks and monitors faculty progress and compliance with FQAS requirements from hire through completion, including instructional, administrative, and system expectations, and generates reports to support oversight and ensure timely completion.
  • Faculty Coaching, Observation and Development: Coordinates and conducts classroom observations, monitors peer coaching and instructional skill development, and works directly with faculty to support instructional practices, classroom management, and completion of professional learning plans.
  • Training and Program Development: Designs, develops, and delivers faculty development workshops, training sessions, and institutional learning events (e.g., MATC Day, Team Day, Faculty Professional Learning Days), and contributes to the development of learning academies, communities of practice, and professional development programming.
  • Assessment, Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Evaluates the effectiveness and quality of faculty onboarding and development experiences, collects and analyzes data on faculty progress and engagement, and recommends improvements to programs and processes to enhance faculty success and compliance.
  • Faculty Support and Issue Resolution: Collaborates with the CTE team, Online Learning, HR, and academic leadership to develop training resources, support faculty development needs, and recommend new learning opportunities aligned with emerging trends, technology, and best practices in teaching and learning. Provides guidance and support to faculty on instructional, compliance, and professional development matters, collaborating with supervisors and stakeholders as needed to address concerns and support successful outcomes.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Ethics and Confidentiality: Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness and accuracy in all actions. Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.
  • Continuous Learning & Professional Development: Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education ADA practices with an emphasis on community Colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Other duties: Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirement, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.
Required Education & Experience: A verification of education will be conducted if a candidate is selected for the position.
  • Associate's degree in education, curriculum, learning and development, or closely related field (e.g. instructional design, organizational leadership, educational technology, design experience, or educational Psychology) and;
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience

Bachelor's degreeor higher in education, curriculum, learning and development, or closely related field (e.g. instructional design, organizational leadership, educational technology, design experience, or educational Psychology)

Supplemental Information
Start Date: This position supports the Center for Teaching Excellence area and is available to start as soon as possible.
Hours: This position is a part-time position and works approximately 20 hours per week. This is a 100% on site/in person position at our Milwaukee Downtown Campus. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin.
Note: This is a WTCS Professional Growth Grant funded position and is subject to renewal parameters on July 1, 2027. If additional funding is not secured the position may end.
Compensation: Hourly pay rates are listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience, internal equity, and a review of the applicant's employment and educational background as listed on the job application.

Employee Benefits at a Glance - PART-TIME STAFF SUPPORT; employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees.
HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types:
1- UMR High Level PPO
2- UMR Low Level PPO
Note: All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.
DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.
Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave hours granted based on hours worked in summary from 8/15 of previous year through 8/14 of current year. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation hours granted based on hours worked summary from 3/15 of previous year through 3/14 of current year (Not available for Instructors)
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
